Start with your location
The Near me action asks for browser location permission after you click it. Airplane Mode uses that position to center the map; it does not send your coordinates to an external flight-data provider.
Match the aircraft to the sky
Compare direction, altitude and aircraft type with what you can see. A marker position can be several seconds old, so allow for movement between the reported point and the aircraft’s current position.
When the map and sky disagree
Not every aircraft is visible in public telemetry, and not every visible marker will be easy to see through cloud, distance or lighting. Treat the map as a useful guide rather than a safety or navigation service.

Does Near me track my location continuously?+
